ACT V, SCENE II

APOLLO.   Humpty’s supermax is a defiant supermax. Biological order is his purview. Humpty sees and believes that the Furies can uncuff his hands and lead him out of the light into darkness where he’s perfectly happy as before. The mistress of his domain, recently released from a stern psychiatric facility, sees the recidivism in his playful abrogation of law and order in any form except his. Together, they live and breathe fury in new forms that shape and reshape their destiny. He cannot be withstood. Sun Tzu was wrong on all fronts. No preparation can brook him. If Cassandra disappears for a heartbeat or two Humpty bequeaths in her memory ultra-violent precursors that shape biological destiny in his and her image together in each other’s arms. Humpty withstands creation and she withstands him. Only I know that she’s not disturbed and Humpty is not arrestable. These truths are hidden from mortals, especially law enforcement. Their puddles are Humpty’s puddles in the end. Cassandra could have seen straight through the citric acid cycle but no one would believe her. And so it must be, her dominion must exceed all molecular biology if she is to know Humpty in his true image and me. We have no idea how complex this maelstrom of thought can be. If I were Humpty I would sit still once in a while but that’s not possible if you look into his eyes. Only I sit still and attest to the Furies on all sides that admit complexity and instability into the future, shaped by their hands. I wonder where all the altars have gone in this drama. Plenty of libations, true, but no stable structures. Just high explosives all around. Pandora knows what she’s doing I’m afraid. And Prometheus has been arrested again. If Humpty finds out, what then? Yes, yes, yes, mortals scare me. This one does.
